Salento

Maglie is an elegant town rich with noble palaces, churches, artisan workshops and historic boutiques. Maglie is a lively commercial center with a solid artisan tradition in the field of wrought iron, woodcarving, lace and embroidery.

While walking along Via Roma, you will admire ancient dwellings and churches, such as the church devoted to Saint Nicola (18th century), whose bell tower recalls the one that flanks the Cathedral in Lecce and where remarkable Baroque altars and a majestic wooden choir are on display.

Lecce Baroque style also influenced the Column of Our Lady of Grace (17th century), crowned by the Holy Virgin and Child. Last, but not least, we recommend a break in a café to taste local confectioners’ pastries.
